Taha
Tinwala
Throughout his life, Taha has been a fan of founders, with his grandfather being his first inspiration. Witnessing their ability to bring about change—whether transforming or creating industries, or providing sustenance and opportunities for those associated with them—has always inspired him. He remains excited to talk to founders daily and feels extremely privileged to have a ringside view of these visionaries creating game-changing outcomes for the people around them, the nation, and at times, the world.
Journey
Growing up in a traditional Gujarati "dhandha" (i.e., business) obsessed family, most of Taha's dinner table conversations revolved around business. Words like inventory, credit, cash flows, and profits seeped into his vocabulary fairly early in life. Since his family's manufacturing business, like most Indian family businesses, was bootstrapped, he quickly learned how to be scrappy with unnecessary expenditures and aggressive when competing for clients, especially against larger, more well-resourced peers. This environment taught him the hustle and hard work it takes to achieve a single win.
Before joining Z47, Taha was part of the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) deal advisory team at KPMG, where he had the opportunity to look under the "proverbial" hood and gain a deeper understanding of how the financial services ecosystem functions. During his stint, he worked on a variety of complex assignments ranging from multi-billion dollar retail banking mergers and disinvestment transactions by public sector undertakings, to private equity transactions in the digital lending, wealth, and insurance spaces.
Taha holds a Bachelor of Banking and Insurance (BBI) degree from Jai Hind College, Mumbai University, where he was the class valedictorian in his final year. Outside of work, he spends his time reading and re-reading his favorite fantasy and sci-fi novels, along with trying very hard to max out his character skill trees in the latest RPG that has caught his attention.
